This blog came from my pressing need to write, and my pressing need to talk endlessly about my style obsessions. Also, it serves to rescue my friends, boyfriend, coworkers and readers of my other online journal from rants about something that isn’t quite up their alley.
I am very passionate about personal style- I am addicted to the self expression, reinvention and beauty of it. I don’t intend to spend much time talking about trends, or fashion shows I’ve personally attended (thusfar: 0), but more how all the style influences trickling down strike me personally. You’ll hear about my love for Zac Posen, my passion for all things brightly colored and, more than anything, the pieces I find along the way that I just can’t seem to stop thinking about. And if some of these things strike you the same way, well, what could be better than that?
I’m a recent college graduate living in the Midwest. I don’t have a lot of money, and I don’t exactly live in a place where high fashion runs the streets. That does temper my experimentation a bit. But there will always be figures like Carrie Bradshaw who have more money, style and personality egging me on to push what I’m doing farther and inspire me to try new looks. While I hesitate to say that I look up to characters like Carrie (cliche, right?), I can't deny the influence they have on my stylistic direction. I also can't deny that their designer, edgy clothes makes me itch to put together my own loud, beautiful, slightly-too-much outfit. Though it seems like an odd thing to say of something as personal as personal style, in a way, Carrie Bradshaw makes me do it.
