While I was searching, several pictures of her face/hair came up and I once again noticed her gray streak. I've always been fascinated with it. Did you know that the streak just turned gray when she was 11? She apparently had a clause in her Pantene contract saying that she could keep it.
I am addicted to What Not to Wear, and I adore Stacy and Clinton. Stacy especially finds a cool balance between being into girly-girl things and not being cloying.
Did you know she started out as a fashion assistant at Vogue? That she was the senior fashion editor at Mademoiselle? For me, she just appeared out of nowhere one day on What Not to Wear with that mangy first co-host, so this was all really interesting to me. She also styled several fashion shows, celebrities and fashion spreads. She pretty much kicks ass.
Another thing that surprised me to hear is that Stacy has long struggled with weight issues, and suffered from psoriasis. She claims her weight has been everything from a size 0 to a size 16. She always seems so confident and lovely that this is hard for me to imagine. She says, "It really took a great deal of work to recognize that at all those weights, no matter how I felt, I could still find a dress that made me feel sexy and powerful." Suddenly her deft understanding of women on the show who feel ugly because they are a larger size makes so much more sense. She can help them find a confidence she had to struggle for herself.
To say Stacy London is one of my favorites would be a gross understatement. I mean, shut the front door! How adorable is she?
I am ashamed to admit I have never heard of this lady before. But from what i read here, she is effing fabulous! I love the gray streak (although if that had popped up in my hair at eleven, or even now, I would have a heart attack, haha). I can definitely identify with the weight issue, although I also find it hard to believe. She looks fantastic in these photos! My dad has psoriosis (sp?) so I know how much that sucks. No matter how many meds or treatments you get, it is just impossible to hide it from people! :(
ReplyDeleteLove this post! xoxo
I completely agree. I would even go so far as to say that it is Stacy (and clinton, and what not to wear) that really changed how I thought about style and how I should dress. And that you always need to accentuate that "itty-bitty waist"!
ReplyDeleteI still watch it every week. but still on friday. I won't watch it on tuesday, i record it and wait.
(it's not like I'm doing anything better on my friday evenings. haha)
Chic on the Cheap

ReplyDeleteWow - I never knew that she struggles with her weight. And she's right - we can all find a sexy and powerful dress!
ReplyDeleteThis has made me want to watch the show now. But, alas, time to head to the office. Blech.
Have a great week!
