What to Wear to the Clinton Wedding.

I was surfing around the other day and found this article where a woman fantasized about what she'd wear if she had been invited to Chelsea Clinton's wedding. I think the idea is cool. I don't care much for the Clintons, but I do love weddings to a sick degree. I won't even tell you have many episodes of Say Yes to the Dress lurk in my DVR lineup.

Obviously I cannot afford designer clothes, and obviously I don't know the nuances of proper attire at large state functions (you go simple and elegant, I'd assume?). I also imagine the fashion scene is relatively competitive, all the clothes being this season (or true vintage) designer. But this is a fantasy, right? Of course right.

I'd start with a great dress. And duh, it would have to be Zac Posen.

Option 1:

This would be great if the dress is truly blue in real life. The picture makes it seem somewhat white, which is of course a no-no for a wedding. I was recently at one where a guest wore a satin white dress. Disaster.

In both cases I used Zooey Deschanel as a hair model because she is perfect, and also because I am currently rocking the short/thin hair version of her look.

I realize the wedding is over (it wasn't when I started drafting this post last week, but I helped my sister move to college and got a wee bit distracted)... but what would you have worn?

  4. I really adore the first outfit. I could totally imagine you rocking that look. It's perfect for you!

Oh lordy, I haven't been to a wedding in so long. At least not a wedding where I got to wear my own outfit. Bridesmaid dresses are the worst. Ugh. But if I were a guest at a fancy schmancy wedding, I would try to be creative like you. :)

  5. What an interesting idea!
I would probably wear a nice pale/pastel shade of sheath dress, definitely with a chic little bolero jacket to cover my upper arms. I would wear this with nice pair of pumps not peep-toes shoes, I think they are too informal for a wedding. Topped with Pearls or my sworovski accessories and an amazing little clutch :)

please visit my blog and vote on my new header!

  6. Both looks are so adorable, but I'm a sucker for bows so I'd probably go with the first look. BUT I love the colour palettes for both, so you can't really go wrong with either idea!

    And Zooey really IS perfect.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  7. I love the idea of the post. I picture myself wearing a lavender knee length pleated Prada dress and bone 3 strap Mary Janes.
